Veterans Employment Workshop Lead Trainer

VetWorks, a first-of-its-kind employment program for veterans, is seeking a Lead Trainer to help unemployed veterans acquire job-readiness skills and locate a good-paying job. Graduates of VetWorks have overwhelmingly moved forward in their work search – more than 64% of our participants locate employment within just 1 month of program completion. The Lead Trainer will facilitate up to 40 hours per week and rotate between training facilities in Lafayette, Kokomo, and possibly New Albany. As VetWorks continues to grow, additional opportunities will become available to the successful Trainer.
 
Core Responsibilities
  • Instruct job-readiness and soft skill training material to veterans and engage participants using an informative, interactive, and fun training methodology
  • Assist participants with resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, personal branding, job search strategies, and LinkedIn profiles
  • Help veterans with their civilian transition by translating military occupations to private sector terminology and making community referrals
  • Collect and ensure the completion of program documentation and paperwork
  • Communicate with program management and case managers on participant performance, and coordinate other classroom operations, such as lunch deliveries, training material, etc.
  • Recommend curriculum updates and revisions as necessary
  • Assist with program recruitment as needed
  • Assist with or lead meal coordination with local vendors and restaurants
  • Other duties as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active or former military service member
  • Training, teaching, or instructing experience
  • Human resource experience
  • Strong PC skills: Word, Google, and LinkedIn are used extensively during this program
  • Flexible, reliable, team-oriented, and focused on continuous improvement
